8-13-08  Ron Roslawski has pointed out the new USS New York recently christened and launched.  The ship is built from the scrap metal from the Twin Towers.  Interesting history of this ship and its predecessors - click the photo to bring up the website: 

 

 

Events of Interest

8-3-08 La Belle France is calling my name again!  I am leaving for Paris 9-17-08 and will spend a week in Chateauroux beginning 9-22-08. 

I am going exploring and will be happy to take photos of the places that interest you.  Zap me an email giving me the address or the area you would like to see and maybe the story of the memory of the place.  Wish you were all going with me! - JP

The article above briefly mentions that an anonymous former student at La Martinerie is donating a sculpture to the City of Chateauroux-Deols.  The sculpture will be placed in a prominent location as a memorium to the lasting friendship between the french citizens and American citizens who lived in their city.   If you would like to be a part of this momentous occasion, you may donate to the cause through the paypal links placed throughout this and the Chas website.  Please designate your donation to "The Gift." 

    The french are party people!  We are once again invited to Chateauroux - June 2009 - (dates to be announced soon).  If you have viewed the photos from Chas 2007, you can see what a great time we Americanse!  had.  I'm sure the coming event will be more of the same.  I am working to get a good rate at the hotel most of us stayed in last year.  Pinch those pennies; sell cookies; have a garage sale - do what it takes to join us next June!
